It's suppose to have a scene in it about the Marianas Island clothing sweat shop deal. Where young local girls were locked into factory dormatories and worked double shifts, basically for very little pay, as slaves.
When efforts to add the girls into the native American (Alaskan) bargaining unit, the factory bosses called in Jack and Tom Delay who took Ralph along, to stop the labor arrangement. I do not know if Ralph Hall is portrayed in the film but it will be interesting to see how they treat the subject and what happened.

Only the first four sections of the National Mall were allowed to have

people due to "reseeding" the rest of the lawns...if they had allowed the

rest of the sections to be used all those people to the sides, streets, on

the steps of buildings, under the trees, on tops of porta potties, dumpsters,

etc. it would probably have "stretched" to the Washington Monument. I walked

for four hours around the perimeter and through the crowds taking pictures

because I lost Cheryl and Carol* very shortly after we arrived at 10:00 AM,

thus I personally saw the immensely/densely packed throng of people. I found

them* at 3:00 PM !

Many people stopped to ask where I got my T-Shirt (I'll send a pic of it

tonight) and I'd ask them where they were from. I personally spoke to people

from Texas, Kansas, Michigan, New Jersey, California, Minnesota, Nevada,

Hawaii, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. I spoke to at

least 10 folks from Texas. When I'd tell them where I was from they almost

be "shocked". They think we are George Dubya Bu$h folks !!*

I am so glad we went !!! It "raised my spirits" to see so many happy,

peaceful, well-adjusted, concerned, compassionate people there "from all

over" the US !!!*

I am Greg Middents and with your vote, I’ll be your next County Judge. This is my last “Open Letter” in this campaign. As County Judge I will continue these “Open Letters” as a way to keep you informed and ask for your input. The County Judge says I am questioning his integrity and character by talking about his record in office. Well, his record just like mine is fair game and his record is not a proud one.

It is important that we voters finally have called him on the carpet.

Last months’ “Open Letter” was on economic development. I need to add more information on that topic because at the last four debates, the incumbent County Judge reinforced his desire to be the “Economic Czar of Grayson County.”

I have no desire to be the “Economic Czar of Grayson County.” As County Judge I will do everything possible to attract businesses to our county, but we will work as a with the economic development professionals in the cities and the area Chamber of Commerce’s. These entities have budgets, professional staff and expertise in bringing in business and industry to Grayson County. I am bewildered amazed that the incumbent Judge thinks this is one of his roles. In fact, if you look at what a County Judge in Texas is required to do, economic development chief… in this case “Czar,” is not in the job description. If you look at the budget for our county there is no “line item” for economic development. How can you legitimately propose economic development without even a budget?

There is no “I” in TEAM WORK. The incumbents reputation for “Bullying” “Strong Arm Tactics”are not successful to attract business or provide positive leadership. In fact, we lose credibility and trust with such actions.

Maybe the incumbent County Judge has another secret deal with his buddies at “Black Knights” that he is keeping us in the dark about? Maybe MD Helicopter is really coming to Grayson County and he just wants to surprise us five days before the election with the big announcement?

Serious intentions need budgeted money to back up all the rhetoric … this is another mistake I see with the current incumbent County Judge.

HE IS ALL TALK As a former Texas Governor once said, “All Hat and No Cattle.”

Why should citizens be required to pay for both a non-competitive bid for Hwy 289 plus pay for excessive profits by the contractor?

Our Commissioner’s Court has become “a little too friendly” with contractors who business with the county. Taking “free fishing trips to Alaska” and other “favors” is very dubious. If fact, the incumbent County Judge said publicly that he wanted to go on that “Alaska fishing trip,” but he realized it didn’t pass his “smell test.” I commend him for saying that.

It’s Your Choice Grayson County?

We are in the closing days of this campaign. I want you to know that I have enjoyed talking and listening to you. I like that one on one, person to person contact when you meet me and I meet you.

On the Fourth of July, we spent the day in Tioga. In fact, Tioga had the best fireworks display in Texoma. These last few weeks we have been at several main street events plus “National Night Outs” around the county. In Collinsville I met a man who relative was the first Grayson County Judge.

As your next County Judge, these are some of the items that I will do:

Be a leader who has the KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES to get the job done.Be a “Full-Time County Judge” who will work for you.I will not leave the office at 2 pm and be unavailable.

I will bring LEADERSHIP, ACCOUNTABILITY and TRANSPARENCY.

In November of 2009 I finished my Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Denver.
Have Commissions’ Court meetings shown live on the web where the citizens can hear and see their elected official in action. Letting citizens speak at Commissioners’ Court.

I will restore the “Public Comment” at the weekly meeting.

For 16 years I have had the honor and privilege to serve as your Justice of the Peace, serving our county seat. Working in the Courthouse / Justice Center gave me first hand knowledge and insight about the operation of our county government. I saw the good and unfortunately I also saw the bad. As Justice of the Peace, I was on call 24/7 for 16 years. In fact, I jokingly tell people that my home away from home was the county jail and the local ER at the local hospital because I was there so often.

Public service and community service is what I am about. My core beliefs and values will be based on what is best for the people of our county. One of my favorite passages from the Bible comes from the Old Testament, Book of Micah: “Doing justice, showing kindness and walking humbly among my neighbors and with God.” That is my creed and my oath to you as your next County Judge.
ransparency and Openness are two of the best ways to restore trust in our county. I would be honored and humbled if you give me that opportunity.

A CALL FOR CHANGE FROM GRAYSON COUNTY DEMOCRATS

Governor Perry and Judge Bynum ask to be re-elected to fight BIG government, but they have not provided the leadership and oversight for the GOOD government we deserve.

Had Perry not accepted $18 billion in stimulus aid, the last budget would have required increased taxes or brutal cuts in state programs.
He denies that there will be an $18 billion deficit for the next budget but won’t have federal stimulus money to help this time
His refusal of aid for the unemployed and schools hurt the unemployed, employers and students.
He denies that Texas has a high dropout rate and other failures in education.

Bynum says he just wants to get government out of the way, but Hwy 289 and Airport improvements and water from Lake Texoma show the benefits of COOPERATIVE GOOD GOVERNMENT.
Texas governors should provide leadership and oversight through state boards, commissions and agencies, but it’s here that Perry’s failures are most glaring. Instead of appointing on the basis of competence, Perry appoints his contributors. He governs by pay to play cronyism: contribute to Perry’s campaign machine and you will be repaid.

22% of his political contributions have come from his appointees. The Chair of the Teacher Retirement System is also his Campaign Finance Chair. TRS Trustees have funneled hundreds of millions to his contributors against professional staff advice and at the expense of Texas teachers.
He has used the Texas Enterprise fund to enrich his contributors.
His answer to the underfunded highway system is to privatize toll roads. These tolls will cost drivers more, but will profit the private builders. Remember the Texas Central Corridor.

Wouldn’t a good leader appoint on the basis of competence and put public before private interests? PAY TO PLAY MUST GO!

Perry has failed to provide executive oversight to state agencies and has hidden failures and scandals by cover ups. Problems? No problem! Just cover up!

His scheme of privatized call centers failed to provide benefits to tens of thousands of our neediest children and cost tens of millions to clean up.
His failure of oversight allowed the sexual abuse of boys in Texas Youth Commission care and “fight clubs” abuse of the mentally disabled. An Administrative Judge recently said that abuses and cover ups continue.
He removed the Chair and two members of the Forensic Science Commission in a capital offence arson case to prevent its hearing embarrassing expert testimony refuting the convicting evidence. An innocent man may have been executed.
His appointed Chair of the Texas Education Committee has ignored teacher and expert advice to impose a political agenda in school textbooks.
He refused to debate Bill White or appear before newspaper editorial boards to avoid embarrassing questions about his record.

Bynum’s style and failure of leadership is clearly seen in his handling of the jail issue.

He led the Commissioners Court’s attempt to privatize and build a $30 million jail.
They spent hundreds of thousands on studies and land acquisition designed to achieve this goal.
They resisted citizen evidence that renovating and expanding the downtown jail was the best option.
When they finally accepted the wisdom of the citizen option, which demonstrated the value of public comment in the Court, they dropped Public Comment from the Court’s agenda. DECIDERS don’t like to be questioned.

We deserve better leadership for GOOD government. Bill White has a proven record of leadership for GOOD government as Mayor of Houston. Perry was re- elected with less than 40%. White was re- elected with over 80%. Texas’ major newspapers have STRONGLY endorsed White. Let’s evict Rick and move Bill in. And while we are doing this, let’s get new leadership in the Commissioners Court so we can get GOOD government in Grayson County.

Perry's Corruption Jeopardizes Retirement Fund for 1.2 Million Educators

TYLER -- Standing with teachers in Tyler today, Bill White called for a special investigation into Rick Perry's public corruption scandal at the Teacher Retirement System which has jeopardized retirement for more than 1.2 million active and retired teachers and educators in Texas.

"Rick Perry is raiding the retirement of Texas teachers who have dedicated their lives to teaching kids so he can sell state government to profit his political machine. This is the worst kind of public corruption. An independent investigator should immediately examine why Rick Perry is selling our teachers' retirement fund to further his own political career," said Bill White. "I would introduce a bill to prohibit trustees of the pension fund from raising money for the governor's reelection efforts. There is already too much potential for abuse."

"Texas teachers depend on our retirement money so we can have a dignified life after we retire from teaching," said Eloyce Green, a retired teacher in Tyler. "It's wrong for a politician from any party to use our retirement money for personal gain. It's just not fair to the people who's money is being used. It's not fair ethically."

A smoking gun memo surfaced yesterday detailing how Perry appointed to the Board friends and donors who steered hundreds of millions of teacher dollars - and millions in fees - to firms run by Perry donors. In 2000, when Perry took office, the TRS had more assets than it needed to fund retiree benefits for more than 30 years. But now, the TRS has an unfunded liability of $21.6 billion.

The Teacher Retirement System is the largest public retirement system in Texas and the seventeenth largest fund of its kind in the world. According to its website, the TRS "serves more than 1,273,582 participants - 988,968 are public and higher education members, and 284,614 are retirement recipients. As of August 31, 2009, System net assets totaled approximately $87.7 billion." There are 321,092 full-time teachers in Texas schools.

A Sign of the Times?

The largest group of early voters in North Carolina is made up of white Republican men, according to an analysis by the nonpartisan Democracy North Carolina, a campaign watchdog group.

During the 2008 Democratic sweep, black Democratic women led all groups during the 17 days of early voting. But during the first three days of early voting this year, it is white Republican men.

"Early voting doesn't favor one party or another, but reveals who's most organized and enthusiastic about making their voices heard," said Bob Hall, director of Democracy North Carolina.

It was a wonderful day filled with positive energy in support of the Administration’s agenda to move this country forward. There were 100 speakers representing as many organizations of all different colors & creeds. It was beautiful. True American diversity at it’s best.

Gov. Rick Perry has declined to meet with newspaper editorial boards in Texas in his re-election run. But his self-imposed embargo apparently does not extend to the national press.

Thursday in Dallas, Perry spoke to a conference of editorial writers from across the nation, delivering a broad slap at Washington, citing states' rights and blaming the Obama administration for the nation's lingering economic woes.

Comparing Washington to England during the Revolutionary War, he said the Founding Fathers could "see what happens when this distant centralized government runs amok."

"They knew that human nature would ultimately clash with the noble precepts that they had learned under great duress," he told the National Conference of Editorial Writers. "So the Constitution they crafted constrains the federal government. It limits those flawed elements of human character: that hunger for unrestrained power."

Perry's Democratic challenger, Bill White, has accused the governor of snubbing Texas editorial boards to avoid hard questions.

The Republican denied that, saying after his speech that he is merely trying to maximize his time.

"It's a big state, and it takes a lot of time to do 12 to 15 editorial boards," Perry said. "It's just a better use of our time to be out talking to the people. It was strictly an issue of: How best do you get in front of more Texans?"

And with that, his staff whisked him away to a TV station for an interview.

That's the question everyone's asking after the Dallas Morning News revealed that Perry's planning a "male-oriented" fundraising dinner where "a few, select men can pay $15,000 each to eat pheasant and wild sausage and have meaningful conversation with the governor."

How about their wives and "significant others"? Well, they're welcome to join the men for post-dinner festivities.

Only in Rick Perry's Texas would the voices of women be considered so unwelcome.

It's no wonder Rick Perry can't prepare Texas for the 21st century; he's still stuck in the 19th.As Christy Hoppe, a writer for the Dallas Morning News, quipped, Rick Perry must want to keep women away from the dinner table so as not to "worry their pretty little heads over all the big words, male talk and cigar smoke."

Whatever Rick Perry's reason for excluding women from his "meaningful" dinner conversation, it's just plain wrong. But this is exactly how Rick Perry runs his state: Some people are invited to the table, and other people simply aren't.

Friday’s Herald Democrat Needs a Correction

In Friday’s Herald Democrat, Cannon’s article on Perry has an error. Most glaring it says Perry won’t debate until Bill White releases his “previous year’s tax returns.” That has been done. The reality is Perry is asking him for tax returns from the 1990’s! This is very misleading making it seem Perry is not unreasonable in using this as a reason not to debate. Even my Republican friends admit Perry’s tactic is phony.
Small but telling language, he also put the number of those protesting at 9. That actually varied up to 12. The point being it was unnecessary to put a number as I’m sure the number would NOT have been included had it been 23, 37 or 101. It appears as a deliberate effort to make it seem small, favoring Perry.
I believe when Bill White was here 3 weeks ago the H-D article provided very good coverage as it did for Perry. I didn’t save the article but I think it too noted protesters. However, There were ONLY 2 & the number wasn’t noted.
You may think I’m being picky but you know I’ve not said anything in a long while about the papers apparent bias even though the cartoons for weeks have been mostly all slamming Obama.

Thanks for keeping this in mind & a correction on the tax returns business would be appreciated & fair.

It's common knowledge around the court house he typically leaves around 2:00p.m. His full time Salary & Benefits: $134,600. (average increase of $4,000 for each year in office.) Half pay could save taxpayers approximately $67,000! ~ No doubt full time work is difficult for anyone who helps maintain a private business & can receive thousands more by performing weddings on the side. ~ Surprisingly, the Judge & Commissioner's only spend an average of 30 minutes per week in Commissioner's Court. That's less than 40 hours PER YEAR!

CONFLICT OF INTEREST: Commissioner Whitlock in Precinct #2 plainly has a conflict of interest! He runs an Auction House while supposedly serving full time as Commissioner. He regularly receives the County's Surplus Equipment and Supplies & sells them at his Auction Business! The Judge & fellow Commissioners condone this flagrant conflict of interest.(Note: Commissioner Whitlock reportedly doesn't charge the county a commission.) Q: Does it pass the small test? Perhaps taking "bids" might surface an auctioneer who would pay the county a commission to sell their surplus.FYI: In taking away "Public Comment," Commissioner Whitlock went further saying he could even keep a taxpayer off the Agenda if he wanted

This is to my friends on both sides of the political isle. I am and I suspect you are receiving numerous e-mails about whether or not the tax cut legislation should expire.

Here's the reality: As most everyone knows, President Bush & the Republican Congress passed legislation in 2001 & 2003 cutting taxes. Everyone did receive some cut in their taxes. Now the e-mails are full of untrue & distorted information about those expiring tax breaks. I just took the time to research the facts. It's not fun digging & doing the homework but I'm tired of the SCARE TACTICS used by so many Republicans largely because they simply hate/extremely dislike our President.

Therefore & FYI: The Republican tax cut legislation of 2001 & 2003 was deliberately written to expire in 2010. The tax cuts were INTENDED by the Republicans to END. Perhaps they realized what such massive tax cuts would do to the National Debt if they continued past 2010. At any rate, the legislation has a termination date. So, Enough about Democrats VOTING TO RAISE TAXES! That's political BS!

(Not surprisingly, many political strategists will tell you the date was set in the event Democrats regained power. If R's were in power in 2010, they could vote to continue the tax cuts for their supporters. If the D's came in, the R's knew what the tax cuts would do to the debt and hoped it would force D's to do what's necessary to decrease the debt & salvage the economy. D's should have no RESPONSIBLE CHOICE but to allow the R's tax cut legislation to expire. Then the R's could fabricate it as a tax increase for the next election. How stupid do these politicians think people are? I guess we'll find out soon.)

1.    Also consider recent polling of Tea Partier Republicans: The overwhelming majority said; DON'T CUT SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE/MEDICADE OR THE MILITARY. THOSE 3 PROGRAMS TAKE 80% OF THE BUDGET. What's going to be paid/cut from he 20% remaining? 20% is peanuts, comparatively. When will people be honest? Cut taxes and keep military spending? Cut taxes & keep our Social Security/Pension and Medicare/Medicaid? Don't forget, we all PAID S.S. & MEDICARE TAXES during our working life. Do you want to take away the money people have paid in or privatize it in the stock market? It is well known the R's want Wall Street to gamble with your pension money. PLEASE, we know the lesson of Wall Street taking care of our pensions.

2.    As is well known, around 90% of the Republican tax cuts went only to the wealthiest. The average working person received only a modest break.

SO.What happens if the tax cuts expire? THE TAX CUTS WILL CONTINUE FOR THOSE MAKING UNDER $200,000. $250,000 FOR FAMILIES. ENOUGH FEAR TACTICS ABOUT TAX INCREASES. THE TAX CUTS FOR 80% OF AMERICANS WILL CONTINUE!

Then Who Will Pay & How Much?
A.   Taxpayers making between $200,000 & $500,000 would face an average increase of $532. YES, $532.00!

B.    Taxpayers making $500,000 to $ 1 million would average a little more than $9,800.00

C.    Taxpayers making more than $1million would average an increase of just over $95,000.

D.    80% of the increase would fall on families making MORE THAN $1MILLION. ZERO ON THOSE MAKING UNDER $200,000.

3. Did you know that making the tax cuts permanent would ADD NEARLY $4 TRILLION TO THE NATIONAL DEBT OVER TEN YEARS. ($3.9 Trillion to be exact.)

Longer than a US Aircraft Carrier (which has a crew of 5,000). With it's 207' beam, it is too big to fit through the Panama or Suez Canals. It is strictly transpacific. Cruise speed: 31 knots. The goods arrive 4 days before the typical container ship (18-20 knots) This behemoth is hugely competitive even when carrying perishable goods. The ship was built in five sections. The sections floated together and then welded. The command bridge is higher than a 10-story building and has 11cargo crane rigs that can operate simultaneously unloading the entire ship in less than Silicone painting applied to the ship bottom reduces water resistance and saves 317,000 gallons of diesel per year.

A recent documentary in late March, 2010 on the History Channel noted that all of these containers are shipped back to China,EMPTY!! Yep, that's right. We send nothing back on these ships. What does that tell you about the current financial state of this country? AG Abbott Claims "Texas Has Not Suffered Any Damages Yet"

Houston, Texas. June 8, 2010. Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, 48 days after the British Petroleum disaster in the Gulf, reaffirmed the "ecological and environmental disaster", claimed "Texas has not suffered any damages yet," and specified his "reaction" as "nothing but sheer frustration and aggravation". He offered no regrets for his May 3 statement that BP had made "all the right actions and all the right comments".[i]

Barbara Ann Radnofsky, 2010 Democratic nominee for Texas Attorney General, responded:

"Texans died in the explosion. Texas has been damaged in many ways that need to be investigated. The AG's confessed reaction of 'nothing but sheer frustration and aggravation' is common among overwhelmed young lawyers."

In a most regrettable conclusion for the people of Texas, the Texas Attorney General aided potential defendants in the Gulf disaster by denying deaths, economic and sub-surface ecological damages preceding visible oil on our shores. He proclaimed, as of June 8:

"The truth is, Texas has not suffered any damages yet, but we want to be ready in the event that oil does come to Texas."

Radnofsky continued:

"We've accurately quoted Mr. Abbott's 13th day response that BP had made 'all the right actions and all the right comments'. While Mr. Abbott may be emotionally fragile, he could still issue a civil investigative demand, a powerful AG subpoena-like tool. His campaign website remains empty of information or reaction other than to hawk T-shirts as news.

"He allows every potential wrongdoer to escape damage responsibility to Texas as of June 8, 2010."

On Monday, June 7, Barbara Ann Radnofsky received the endorsement of the Texas League of Conservation Voters.

I’m GREG MIDDENTS, your Democratic candidate for County Judge. I need your vote and
support. I respect your right to ask why?

WE NEED A JUDGE WHO LISTENS TO THE TAXPAYERS, NOT A BULLY WHOSE
ATTITUDE IS “MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY.”

Surprisingly, Mr. Bynum as incumbent County Judge has broken his own campaign
promises that he made when he ran for elected office in 2006. He stated: “You cannot
bully your way through …" However, bullying is exactly what he has done to citizens and
opposition who do not agree with him. His actions are convincing us that we cannot trust
him when he breaks his own promises and contradicts his own values.

This Commissioners’ Court typically meets twenty to thirty minutes per week. How can
the Court COMPETENTLY and TRANSPARENTLY conduct all the peoples’ business so
quickly? We are a county of approximately 120,000 citizens. You would think that the
“business of the county” would be conducted in a more timely and professional manner.
Most people I know work 40 plus hours a week. Is it not right for us to expect that our
County Judge should work as much as citizens do?

There is no reason why the “county business should not be open to all its citizens.” With
today’s technology, most Commissioners’ Court business can be openly conducted in
over the “web” and later viewed on cable by citizens.

The Commissioners’ Court could readily meet at a different time that is more convenient
for the public. I am open to that possibility. PARTICIPATION and TRANSPARENCY is the
name of the game. I would do what the public considers best.

Be assured, as your County Judge I will move to rectify problems caused by the current
incumbent. I am an AMERICAN who is “OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, AND FOR THE
PEOPLE.” I NEED YOUR VOTE AND SUPPORT FOR THE FALL ELECTION.

As sponsors of an immigration law for Texas similar to Arizona Leo Berman & Debbie Riddle see themselves as saviors of Texas by stopping the horde of illegal immigrants (Mexicans in their mind).

Texas Rep. Leo Berman (R) Tyler, TX, has an ugly history of racism and nativism. As Raw Story reports, he has "built a track record of controversial comments. Last year, activists launched a now-defunct Web site, CensureLeo.com, after Berman told a Chinese-American lawyer to 'kiss his ass' and 'go home,' presumably to China." And in 2007 he "delivered what one blogger called a 'hate-filled speech' in which he claimed that 'illegal immigrants were bringing Polio, the plague, leprosy, tuberculosis, malaria, Chagas Disease and Dengue Fever to the United States in alarming numbers." Berman made the unorthodox claim that Barack Obama's current position as President of the United States is a matter of divine providence before informing the crowd that he and his fellow party members would stand together defy the very will of The Almighty.
I mean, that is what he's saying here, right? "I believe that Barack Obama is God's punishment on us today, but in 2012, we are going to make Obama a one-term president."

Texas Rep. Debbie Riddle (R) Houston TX, "Where did this idea come from that everybody deserves free education, free medical care, free whatever? It comes from Moscow, from Russia. It comes straight out of the pit of hell. And it's cleverly disguised as having a tender heart. It's not a tender heart. It's ripping the heart out of this country." Riddle was further quoted as saying "In a perfect world, I think it would be wonderful to open our doors to any and all, young and old, for health care. But this isn't a perfect world. We have got to decide if we are going to just open our borders for any and all that come through for health care, education, and services." The comment was met almost instantly with both opposition and support from both ends of the political spectrum.

The economic crisis has hit Black folks especially hard -- the unemployment rate is almost twice as high among African-Americans as among Whites. The picture is especially bleak for Black men -- 19% are currently jobless.^[2]
Unless Congress does something big to create new jobs -- and soon -- the situation could just keep getting worse. Each wasted day means more lost jobs, more foreclosed homes, and more medical bankruptcies -- all of which will drag the economy down even further.
The Local Jobs for America Act (H.R.4812) would do a lot to help. The bill would allocate $75 billion for creating and saving 750,000 jobs, with the most funds going to economically depressed areas.^[3] It would allocate $25 billion to hire and retain teachers, police officers, and firefighters. Another $500 million would go to support on-the-job training programs.
Rep. Keith Ellison has challenged us all to convince enough of our representatives to support this bill that its passage will be guaranteed. It's a tall order, but Ellison has already gathered an amazing 139 cosponsors in just a few weeks. Now we must take advantage of that momentum.

I’m GREG MIDDENTS, your Democratic candidate for County Judge. I need your vote and support. I respect your right to ask--- why?

Most folks know that under Judge Bynum’s tenure, the Grayson County citizens have PATIENTLY endured three years of bickering, wasteful spending and ignoring the will of the people.

From Town Hall Forums to weekly Court sessions, taxpayer after taxpayer have said “NO” to his obsession for building a Private Jail in Grayson County that would replace our current County Jail.
I advocate implementing recommendations of the Texas Jail Commission on Jail Standards. Our Commissioners’ Court has spent over $400,000 in studies trying to solve this problem. Inmate work programs, jail diversion programs, and pre-trial hearings could lower the number of jail beds needed.

Additionally, there was NO JUSTIFCATION for their plan to buy 93 acres while acknowledging the proposed jail would need only 20-23 acres. Equally wasteful, they agreed to pay over $9,000 per acre for this land appraised at half that value. With decisions like that, I question the actions and leadership of the current County Judge.

Be assured, as your County Judge I will move to rectify problems caused by the current incumbent. I am an AMERICAN who is “OF THE PEOPLE … FOR THE PEOPLE … AND BY THE PEOPLE.” I NEED YOUR VOTE AND SUPPORT IN THIS FALL ELECTION.

In recent years I’ve visited with friends who are former Democrats. Person after person will tell you, “I was raised a Democrat. My parents are Democrats.” I ask why they changed. Answer by many,” The Democratic Party left me.” It’s apparent what that means. The Democratic Party accepted integration, Pres. Johnson famously commenting, “there goes the solid South” for Democrats. Thus the Democratic Party “left” those who wouldn’t and don’t accept racial parity, equal pay, affirmative action or simply diversity in representation. Democrats have always supported programs to help the elderly (Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security,) unemployment compensation, public schools, fire, & police departments and medical TREATMENT FOR ALL.

The old Southern Democrats were for such programs UNTIL THE POOR FOLKS STARTED RECEIVING THE SAME BENEFITS AS THE WHITES AND THEY HAD TO PAY TAXES TO SUPPORT THESE PROGRAMS.

Then many became Republican who retained the Christian values they held as Democrats…until they had to pay taxes to support the programs. Those “Christian values” stopped at the pocketbook.

These former Dem’s, now Repub’s want Social Security and Medicare and military spending…but they don’t want to pay for it. As we know, Soc. Sec. is #1 in cost…the Tea Party folks don’t want it cut. Our Military is #2 in cost and they don’t want it cut. Medicare/Medicade is 3^rd and the Tea Party’ers don’t want that cut either.

WELL FOLKS, THOSE 3 PROGRAMS REPRESENT 80% OF THE TOTAL BUDGET. The remaining 20 % pales in cost when put up against the big 3.

There is no free lunch. Note; we are now paying $1,100 per person to pay for those who are without health insurance, The Walmart workers, et. al. go to the ER & pay zero. You, we pay for their costs, not Walmart.

Another fact: In Texas, 66% of the uninsured are WORKING!! They have jobs…they CHOOSE NOT TO PAY FOR INSURANCE AND GO TO THE ER & WE PAY FOR THEM. Surprised that 2/3 rd’s aren’t really lazy scum-bags who won’t work?

Reality bites: “The elephant in the room” on policy issues is RACE! The Repub’s will oppose anything Obama proposes because they can’t get over it. The Tea Party crowd are largely racially prejudiced, as shown by recent polls. AND, don’t take my Soc. Sec.. Medicare or cut defense spending. They’re happy with those expenditures. The magician doesn’t live who can stop the economic bleeding by divvying up the 20% remaining.

It's not the first time the Court has been totally wrong on legislation that would benefit their constituents & the county because of nothing more than the regressive ideology of the GOP. The resolution is far from the business of the county & certainly does not adhere to the Courts stated mission statement or their vision as shown below:

One of the state attorney generals who has signed onto a nationally-watched lawsuit to overturn health reform is Republican Greg Abbott of Texas. The lawsuit alleges that the new law is unconstitutional because it imposes a mandate requiring citizens to buy insurance.
Turns out, however, that Abbott strongly supported a law in Texas last year that requires divorced parents to purchase insurance for their kids, even if they prefer to pay for their medical expenses out of pocket.

I just found out that President Obama is about to reverse his decision to prosecute the 9/11 suspects in federal criminal court and use Bush-era military commissions instead. Military commissions are contradictory to American values. They would allow convictions based on coerced evidence and hearsay. They're also ineffective. Our criminal justice system has successfully handled over 300 terrorism cases compared with only 3 in the military commissions. J oin me in urging President Obama to honor the Constitution and keep these prosecutions in the same federal courts. We Democrats in Grayson County have a problem. Too many think in order to win elective office; one has to run as a Republican. Believing this, too many Democrats, caring about good government, vote in the Republican primary in an effort to elect “the better of the Republican” evils.This creates a “catch-22” for Democrats who might want to run. Why run if the Democrats don’t believe you can win and therefore vote in the Republican race or don’t vote at all. How many times have you heard, “my vote won’t count or it won’t make any difference.” I just became aware of another problem we face, that surfaced from the Primary just completed. A number of Democrats voted in the Republican Primary BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO VOTE ON THE REPUB RESOLUTIONS! That’s right…some were more concerned about voting on abortion and god in the public square than the candidates running. I doubt this occurred in large numbers but it represents the difficulty we have in voter education. The fact is they went in to vote Democratic but switched to the Repub ballot to vote on the resolutions and some still not realizing the Democratic candidates wouldn’t appear on their ballot.. (Perhaps they were the “NO” votes on Voter I.D. ResolutiHow do you counter folks who vote against their own best interests? History tells us repeatedly that people vote in greater numbers AGAINST than FOR. Think about the issues that drive so many: AGAINST A WOMAN’S RIGHT TO CHOOSE— AGAINST ANY RATIONAL FORM OF GUN CONTROL – AGAINST THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH & STATE – AGAINST ANY TAXATION – AGAINST UNIONS – AGAINST HEALTH CARE FOR ALL.

Another phenomenon we face is the inclination many have to be on the winning side. I recall in years gone by how many people would say their favorite team was the Yankees. Yet I personally knew many who didn’t follow baseball and couldn’t tell you beyond Micky Mantle who played for the Yankees. Another example of this same phenomenon is the workplace. My nephew, raised be a yellow dog Democrat, went to work for an auto dealership. The mostly ignorant rednecks who worked there soon had him believing their Fox News “Ditto Head” B… S….! He now votes Republican, no doubt in part to get along with his co-workers. I believe this is a significant problem in Grayson County & all over Texas. The “aginners” typically speak vehemently about their beliefs and too many Democrats who encounter them in the work place, seem loath to differ. So how can we change this set of circumstances? Look in the mirror. What do you believe in? Do you believe in the “common good?” Do you believe in fair taxation; the separation of church & state; a woman’s right to choose; equal rights for all; caring for the young and elderly; quality public education; providing a first class military, without greedy profiteering; a decent wage, benefits and retirement for able bodied people. Do you believe health care is as vital to life as food, air and water? Do you believe in a system of capitalism that has regulations to protect consumers from fraud and greed? If so, chances are you’re a Democrat! Hold your head high! Speak up! Come out of the closet of intimidation where you work or worship!

Run for office and support the Democrats who do… VOTE!

Certainly Obama hasn’t accomplished everything we’d like or think he should have by now. BUT THINK what it would be like if McCain & Palin had won. DON”T APOLOGIZE & DON’T give up.

Be confident the current economic crisis & unemployment that began with the Bush-Chaney tax cuts for the wealthy will end. We may get hurt in the 2010 elections in some places BUT WE CAN WIN IN GRAYSON COUNTY. The national economic tide will turn by 2012 and Obama, with a Democratic majority WILL BE RE-ELECTED. Republican voter turn out appears to be consistently larger than the Democratic party voters. That's because Democrats seem to float by the Presidential midterm primary election for some reason or the other.

Shame on us, the Democratic voter turn out in this Grayson county primary election was deplorable. The ratio; 7 Republicans to 1 Democrat. The disparity in votes never seems to change unless there is a presidential election & even then Democrats only vote if there is a hotly contested race like the 2008 primary election. We constantly fight the battle of apathetic Democratic voters & continue to lose elections. Where were those who voted for change we can believe in? What happen to the first time voter? Voting changes things only if you vote & in this day & age voters have ample time to vote with the advent of early voting. Folks, there are absolutely no reasons not to vote, none.

If anyone has an answer to Democratic voter apathy they should run for office they could win by a landslide. Unfortunately, I don't see it & it's sad to say that the Grayson Democratic Party will most likely not win any seats in this county in November.

Judge Bynum all of a sudden decided to try the path for the jail problems that were recommended long ago. The pretrial release idea was one of the first recommendations made from the beginning. Judge Bynum is running scared & everything changes in an election year. Please, Judge you are being disingenuous we all know what you believe in as far as County Government is concerned. When you voted me into office you gave me permission to decide what is best for you the people. Sound familiar? Remember the “Decider?” The entire Commissioners court reflects this same arrogance, isn’t it about time Grayson County conducted the county business in an open and responsive way. We have an opportunity in November to changes the face of the court. An opportunity to end all the back room deals that have been going on in re: the jail issue & God knows what else.

On ABC News last weekend, former Vice President Dick Cheney confessed to playing a key role in the commission of war crimes during the Bush administration.

"I was a big supporter of waterboarding," boasted Cheney.

Since he has publicly confessed to ordering torture, the U.S. has no choice but to prosecute Dick Cheney for war crimes.

The Herald-Democrat is liberal? LOL! Read the Feb. 7 editorial pages.

“Big Labor” is a myth perpetuated by fear mongering Corporations. Union membership is one-third of what it was in the “Leave it to Beaver” family values days when jobs and our economy were sustainable even through recessions.

You can track the decline of the middle class with the decline of unions.

CEO’s, investment bankers and individual greed are the more factual reasons for our economic crisis.

Ignorance of how unions were largely responsible for building the middle class is prevalent, even among some locally whose families benefitted from union contracts. Corporate barons know what governmental policies & regulations benefit them and know killing unions hurts working folks.

Unionism, case in point: Germany ’s economic engine progresses steadily, less affected by the global crisis. Why? Germany retains a very labor-friendly employment system with labor having a powerful voice in Germany ’s Boardrooms. In the largest corporations, half of all seats on their Supervisory Boards are reserved for employee representatives. This system of co-determination has resulted in Germany ranking #2 behind only China among the worlds’ capital exporting nations. German industry claims 17% of the global market with only 1.2 % of the world population. Germany ’s success dispels the myth that union employees are less concerned about the company thriving than CEO’s. Unionized employees want a company that thrives, sustaining a decent life for all.

Germany maintains a strong national commitment to advanced manufacturing. Something our government abandoned to the greed of investment bankers and corporate CEO’s whose primary concerns are shareholders and bonuses’. Think NAFTA. It’s unthinkable the German or Chinese Governments would facilitate the outsourcing of industry as the U.S. has done. Even rewarding Corporations with tax breaks for outsourcing jobs and avoiding fair taxes by stockpiling profits in off shore banks.

Detroit : Corporate Officers and union members together increased their salary and benefits. Rising tides raised all boats. The decisions that destroyed our auto industry were made by Corporate Officers. Yet unions were blamed by those who profit from paying low wages and diminishing our ability to have secure jobs which sustain an economy.

Unions are not the enemy.

Texas Tea Party Tax Day Protest Comming Soon to a Courthouse Near You

It's all most time to pay your income taxes & you know what that means. The Texas Tea Party movement will bemoan the fact that American citizen have to pay taxes. While we say paying taxes is patriotic. Conversely, the Tea Party thinks that nothing less than a tax cuts is patriotic. So what do we do if any thing to counter the Tea Party Protest in Sherman, TX.
Plans must be made now for the tax day protest on April 15th 2010. We need ideas on how to most effectively demonstrate an alternative.

We all know the TTP (Texas Tea Party) is already out in force so I thought this little primer on how to understand TTP speak would come in handy especially for the counter protest that will surely occur.
