Governor Rick Perry announced that he intends to turn down $555 million in stimulus funds that would provide additional benefits for unemployed Texas job-seekers who are trying to get by in the wake of layoffs caused by the Republican recession. After his announcement, it was clear the Governor cares about only one job - his own.
The Governor compared out-of-work Texans to junkies, and now he's using them as political pawns to appeal to what he thinks is his Republican base. Texas needs a leader who will work with mainstream Texans in a bipartisan effort to rebuild our economy. It's shameful that Rick Perry would rather play politics to keep his job than help Texans who have lost their jobs.
In the U.S. Senators, Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, have refused to condemn Perry's destructive actions. Call or email them and insist that they condemn the Governor’s refusal to accept new funds to help unemployed Texans.

- The Texas economy will lose between 180,000 to 300,000 jobs in 2009
- The Texas unemployment rate is expected to rise from 6 to 8.2 percent by October
The unemployment fund is already running low and will reach zero by October 1st - 26,000 Texans are filing new unemployment claims each week

Time to go Gov- Rick, stupid is what stupid does. You still turn down money that we tax payers put into the nation system. Thats like, I pay my local school taxs and the teacher and kids need books but they say, "No, where ok. We'll still use these out dated books in candlelight and drop school lunches. those kids who can't hang. While, too bad."
I agree it's time for Perry to go! He doesn't care about the POOR. His attitude is like most other REPUBLICAN's, "Put them all in prison are preferably, let them all DIE". After all, this is basically the statement that Governor Perry made, "People on unemployment are all JUNKIES". If you don't believe this is true, then why would Governor Perry say such a thing?
Do you people who have lost their jobs and are having to draw unemployment believe this is true about you? How can you continue to support someone who feels this way? It is mind boggling to me that he could even think such a thing.
The REPBULICAN'S goal is to get rid of everyone, but the rich elite. Why would a Governor not want to do what's best for their State? Someone tells Perry what he can and cannot do, it's very obvious. He only represents the rich, just like all the other REPUBLICAN's who run this state.
It's a shame that the last 8 years have been wasted in this country, because of Bush and Cheney. It's a shame that it continues on in the State of Texas, because of ignorance from our Governor Perry, Hutchinson, Cornyn, Hall...
It's SCARY people, to have people like this in charge who are suppose to be representing all the people! It's quite apparent all the people are not being represented!!!
We cannot afford to let Governor Perry and the other REPUBLICAN's who run our state continue to represent us. It's time to get real and Vote them out!
