Local KXII TV News Bars Responce to Hall's Statements
Here is another story about selective reporting by a local media outlet. If you didn't see KXII TV12 News Sherman, TX last evening you must see the video and read the article. Glenn Melancon was not allowed to answer this news item which is clearly a campaign ad disguised as a report from congress. That was the reason KXII gave for not allowing Glenn to respond to this so call report. KXII is allowing a Congressman who has already stated that he is one the side of big oil to campaign on their evening news & show the people how hard he is trying to save them money at the gas pump. Hall is clearly on the side of the oil companies and could carry less about your pocket book. Here is the same Congressman who has never voted for a minimum wage and says he never will. Does that sound like he has your best interest at heart? NO! In the 2006 campaign against Glenn Melancon for the 4th Congressional District when asked if he-Hall was inof Big Oil's pocket Hall said, "I'm not in Big Oil's Pocket, but I am by their side." Here is another quote of Ralph Hall concerning oil “Oil is one thing that the lack of it causes war” and he predicted that because the Democrats in congress opposed drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge it is “going to cause our grandchildren to go to war”. On the idea of less dependence on fossilized fuel Hall bemoaned "the pure venom felt against the oil and gas industry. Hall supports policies that allow the big five oil conglomerates enjoying record profits, while they spend only one half of one percent of their profit on investments in clean alternative energy solutions.
TELL ALL YOU KNOW! RALPH HALL’S GOTTA GO!
The following is a news release from Glenn Melancon Democratic Candidate for The 4th Congressional District:
Melancon Says Hall’s Energy Plan is Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
“Ralph Hall continues to mislead Texas Families on energy,” said Glenn Melancon, Democratic Candidate for US Congress in Texas’ Fourth Congressional District. “None of Hall’s proposals represent real change. We need to break America’s addiction to big oil, not encourage it.”
Hall is one of a small minority of Republicans pushing a bill they call “No More Excuses Energy Act” (HR 3089). The bill gives away federal land to oil companies and provides tax free bonds to build new refineries. It would also allow the construction of nuclear power plants without waste disposal plans. The Republican bill eliminates all coastal drilling restrictions in the United States and opens up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWAR). Two sentences of the thirty-eight page bill extend existing wind energy tax credits for ten years.
“Hall’s bill is just another give-away to giant energy companies,” Melancon said. “It would simply guarantee America’s addiction to oil for the next fifty years.” Melancon pointed to ANWAR as a key example. Energy Department projections, which are available online, clearly show that opening ANWAR to drilling will not change the upward trend in net imports of oil. In fact in 2030 the United States would still be importing over 16 million barrels of foreign oil per day. Today the US imports a net 13 million barrels per day.
“Oil companies are kicking Texas families in the gut,” said Melancon. “That’s wrong and it has to stop. Instead of standing by big oil’s side, Congress must stand by average Americans”
Melancon has offered new solutions to create a competitive energy market. He plans to redirect tax dollars from the oil giants to American universities and research facilities to develop new energy sources. He also wants tax incentives for consumers, making conservation technologies more affordable.
“We have to start looking to the future. We can’t afford to waste another fifty years. Clean, affordable energy is the key to a brighter future,” Melancon said. “If we start investing in America now, then Texas families can look forward to lower energy bills and a stronger economy.”

Impeachment Articles / Chronicle of an Eight Year Reign
The listed Articles of Impeachment could easliy be called the Chronicle of an Eight Year Bush/Cheany regime. There is little else that comes to mind. Oh maybe the No Child Left Behind educational program, no that wasn't a sucess either. Far and away the moist untrustworth bunch in the Whitw House even I'm not a crook Nixon was this bad. Thank you Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-Ohio) who introduced these Articles of Impeachment Against President Bush. The House has voted 251 to 166 to send articles of impeachment against President Bush to the Judiciary Committee which is not likely to hold hearings before the end of his term.
It is clear to most folks that history will judge George W. Bush as one of the worst presidents ever—if not the worst. We must continue to demand accountablity of the high crimes of George Bush & Dick Cheany even after they or out of office no one should be above the law. In my view a felony indictment for any of the crime sited in the articles of impeachment would satisfy justice or am I the only one who feels that way?

Press Progress
If you attended the Texas Democratic Party Convention in Austin this past weekend you may have seen a young lady taking notes and photo's of the Grayson County Delegation as they moved through the the convention process. Our own Kathy Williams Assistant Editor of the Herald Democrat, Sherman, Texas was that person. If you think she was reporting for the newspaper you would be wrong. The Herald Democrat decided against covering the state Democratic Convention in Austin.
To our delight upon returning from the convention we found that a new blog "Press Progress" had been launched by Kathy and her first round of blogging was to keep folks back in Grayson County up to date on Convention happenings. If you have not yet seen the site you are in for a treat. "Press Progress" is an informative, insightful and in depth report by a season professional journalist that you will truly enjoy. It is in fact a true representation of what delegates and other attendees witnessed. Much more honest, informative and objective than the spin we are reading and viewing from the newspapers, and television news. Check it out I know you will enjoy the articles and probably recognize folks you know in the photos Kathy has posted of delegates from Grayson County. Please add your comments & let Kathy know what you think of it and encourage her to continue posting articles on "Press Progress". Goodness knows we need a professional journalist to keep us informed on issues that concern all of us. Oh, and by the way after returning from the convention and reading her new blog WannaBeBlue is considering a name change to "GonnaBeBlue". What do you think?
